This smoothie tastes like sweet watermelon bubble gum, and it is very refreshing to boot. I love that it is filled with nutrients and if you skip the maple syrup – which you can – then you are just getting the natural sugars from the fruit.
If you can, make your own plant-based milk. That further allows you to control the ingredients. I use my Almond Cow Milk Maker which makes it so easy to make milk. No need for the mess of straining through a cheese cloth. The Almond Cow does it all for you with a nifty built in blender and filter. You can use the pulp waste to make a variety of recipes which they provide on their website Pulp Waste Recipes as well as in their recipe book.
One less container
In my house we use the Almond Cow on a weekly basis to make oat milk, almond milk, and cashew milk. Besides controlling the ingredients, it is yet another container that does not enter my house. I think about it every time I make a batch and use the reusable glass bottles.
Ingredients
2 cups fresh Organic Watermelon, cut into cubes
1 cup frozen Organic Strawberries, you can use fresh too but I love the convenience of frozen
1 frozen organic banana, I always keep 5-6 pre-cut bananas in the freezer ready for smoothies
1 cup Oat Milk, or your favorite plant-based milk
I tbsp Maple Syrup
Instructions
Combine all ingredients and blend until smooth. My daughter and I usually share this but you could have one wonderfully refreshing smoothie all to yourself if you prefer.
