I do not know about you, but I have heard the statement, “we have the solutions, but not the political will” a half a dozen times already this week. Granted it is Friday, but that is a lot of times in one week to hear that we as a country are not moving forward with climate solutions because of the lack of “political will.”
Science and the rest of the world continue to show us repeatedly that this climate crisis is real, and immediate action must be taken. The one thought that I struggle with is why there is not a greater focus on what we as individuals can do. Maybe there is and I am just missing it!
I get a feeling that people think there is nothing that they can do. Instead of feeling powerless and saying, “screw it,” couldn’t we just start taking action that makes a difference? There is a lot we can do outside of lobbying, letter writing, and trying to build that darn “political will!”
There is power in how and what we buy, and it starts simply inside our own homes. Maybe my little visual can help get you started. If you are doing all of these, please share other ideas. Our action will have to level up, but this is a great start and requires no financial investment. Please stop thinking your personal actions will not fix the climate! We can collectively make a positive impact.
